15.07.2022FNAF Help Wanted:"I'm the best horror game made for VR"
PolarDread:"Hold my beer"
Strissel Studios
15.07.2022Since VR Fangames are in the spotlight now, I figured Id share mine. This is only a basic plot/concept, but Im absolutely skill-less so I doubt it ever comes to fruition.
This is the planned overview of the fan-game "Five Nights At Fazbear's Frights" so far:
-It will be a retelling of FNAF3, in an alternate universe where you play as Charlie (The gender of the main character is not yet decided, so it may end up that the player is "Charlie" {Charlotte}, Henry Emily's daughter, or a gender bent alternative timeline son of Henry Emily, also named "Charlie".)
-You are a night guard tasked with fulfilling your duties at the under-renovation, soon-to-be open horror attraction, "Fazbear's Frights". The major difference to the plot here, being that Springtrap is not the only threat in the building.
-The attractions present at this reimagining of the location are all recreations of prior events in the existing canon FNAF universe, such as a recreation of Evan Afton's Bedroom being present, and rooms/offices from FNAF 1 &2. There are also animatronics from “Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental” too, but those will be addressed later.
-The main driving point for customers at this upcoming horror attraction will be the interactive headsets that they are given upon entry. The Illusion Disks (Most commonly known from Scott Cawthon’s novel “The Twisted Ones”) were supposed to be utilized at this location to provide an immersive horror experience like no other, as customers would wear headsets that transmit high pitched frequencies to cause hallucinations while walking through the exhibits, but beta testers reported that prolonged exposure to the audio made them feel sick. As it stands, Fazbear Entertainment is looking for workarounds. One suggested theory was to even have the noises come out of the hidden speakers already around the building, and get rid of the headset idea altogether.
-The main gameplay loop centers around the player's “safe-room”, the employee break-room. This is where you will go to start and end the shift, save the game, and put on your very own authentic, Fazbear Entertainment Maintenance Jumpsuit, with matching hat! Sourced from the original location (For the customer’s immersion of course. Nobody definitely died in that jumpsuit, of course. Maybe).
-The break-room also has access to the newest technology 2033 has to offer, including a non-copyright, windows 95esque computer and monitor, for the player to clock in, view their various night time tasks, and even surf the web! (permitting nobody picks up the phone and hogs the dial-up connection).
From this point of the synopsis onward, it will be generally less descriptive, as to not completely spoil all planned details, but still provide a basic outline of the nights:
Night 1 will be used to familiarize the player with the mechanics of the game, and a majority of the floorplan that the building has to offer, along with starting them on their tasks and introducing them to some of the smaller/lesser animatronics the location has to offer. Night 1 ends with the player locking up but as they close and lock the door, all the lights inside go dark and they can hear the music box noise that is indicative of the power running out
Night 2 will introduce the vent-crawlers, and also the noise system. Similar to how Ultimate Custom Night or Pizzeria Simulator functioned, the louder the player or the player’s actions are, the more agitated certain animatronics become. As the player completes their given tasks around the facility (Similar to Sister Location, but planned to be a little more “Free-roam”), they must be careful to manage their noise-level in correlation to their productivity. The louder you are, the more agitated certain vent animatronics become.
A planned way to fend off these vent intruders will be to turn up the thermostat and push them back from wherever you happen to be, but be careful. Being hotter than “ A cool 60° “ tends to agitate some of the bigger animatronics, so don’t blast the heat for too long.
Night 3, shortly after arriving, when logging onto the computer to see your tasks for the night, you are met with an error message and a subsequent power outage. When the power goes out, the building goes on lockdown, and the vents around the building close, to stifle and suffocate the flames in the instance of an electrical fire. Due to the lack of airflow, and possible rising heat, the player may start hallucinating, so it is imperative to get the power restarted and vents reset as soon as possible. There is only 1 threat in the building on this night, and as such, after the player successfully gets the power on, opens the fire-doors, and manually reset the ventilation, they are prompted to return home and come back the next day.
Night 4 will not exactly introduce any new mechanics, but the player must now balance everything that they have previously learned. This means completing the night's tasks in an orderly manner, while also managing noise levels and temperature, resetting the ventilation when needed, and doing their best not to trip the electrical breaker in the process.
Night 5, the player will see when logging on to the work computer that their task is to unload an assorted shipment of crates from the loading dock. Upon arriving at the loading dock, the player finds a demolished crate, and another large unopened crate near the door. Checking the order form, they see that the unopened crate contains an authentic Spring-Fredbear outfit, and the demolished crates contents are listed as a spring-bonnie costume. It is nowhere to be found. William Afton's corpse (SpringTrap) is now loose in the building.

12.07.2022I love how this game uses throwing items at the animatronics a gameplay mechanic. It’s one of my first games instincts and now I can be rewarded for it.

10.07.2022Hell yeah brother. Polar Dread is amazing! Fully agree that the way Squeaks and the team has evolved the formula of FNAF by fully utilising vr is the best aspect of the game

07.07.2022This developer could definitely make a series.
It would be cool to see a fun FNAF fan-game without lore.

29.06.2022I know I have to play this when I get my new headset but I literally dread it. VR horror is just too much sometimes. I also love that we can finally call something that it's own IP and could be sold a "FNAF fangame". Games like Polar Dread and Rat Race should absolutely be sold.
