Chris Stuckmann reviews Five Nights at Freddy’s, starring Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, Elizabeth Lail, Matthew Lillard, Mary Stuart Masterson. Directed by Emma Tammi.
For me this movie was 6/10 ! Above average ! Its feels slow at times ! But the children acters was awsom and cgi animatronic was freaky and scary ! Diddent like the hole mass murder children and the femal cop with the twist part ! No spilers ! But it was a protty solid movie ! Hope for a sequel ! So we can get more killer robots and sol of the fan favorot animatronick !
Glad to see Chris is one of the few critics who enjoyed this film! :O Even if it's very much a flawed film I always know I can rely on your opinion because, while you are critical, you are always fair and you're always on the side of the filmmaker and you're able to appreciate a film for what it is as long as you see there is genuine heart and effort put into it. I respect the hell out of that! Saw the movie myself as a fan and I loved it! 🙂
I laughed my ass off and the theatre to lol. When that big guy with the beard started screaming and running around lmao 😅 following him around through the security camera 😂.
Sorry but I just didnt like this movie. The pacing wasnt good, the writing was simple, and it spends most of its story telling and not showing. There are massive plot holes and the motivations of some characters is “cartoony” and down right dont make sense most the time. The sets were great and costuming was amazing. Movie over all: 3/10
I watched it opening night and the age gap was pretty wide. Was expecting a lot of kids but it was most older teens and adults. I thought a Rate R rating would have been fine and benefitted from it. One of the best parts was when the killings happened. Was wanting more but the character building in a way distracts you in a good way. So it sorta worked out in the end.
when i hard of this movie being pg-13. i was a bit disappointed due to this series being very disturbing a graphic which should than be shown in the movies. But holy shit, even with this rating, the gore is intense but not intense enough to be r rated. on the bottom is a spoiler
Theres a part of the movie of a guys face fucking destroyed by the death trap machine along with other people stuffed into the animatronics. Just saying, if you had the same expectations I had while going into this movie trust me. Its gonna be great
Nick Cage did it better plot wise. The whole dream nonsense was so forced and pointless. The finale was rushed and the kids tried way too hard for the oscar lol. 6 tops
I feel like Chris feels like he can't say anything really negative about movies anymore so he frames negative things as positives and then just says, "this aspect might not with for everyone." Idk, I just don't feel like we get his genuine opinion anymore.
Saw this today as a parent of 2 boys who like the games (one loves them) The one who loves em loved the film. The one who likes em liked the film and tbh with the source material on offer i couldnt have expected much else. Cant understand the critic rating on RT. Are they out of touch? Am i? My final verdict: coulda been a lot worse.
I watched a 2 hr lore video before watching the movie to understand the story. Watching the movie, it seemed like they changed the story some. I liked all the characters. There was not enough action or horror for me. Majority of the action and horror only happened in the last 30 minutes of the movie 🙄. Too much talking. I probably won’t watch this one again, but it was ok for one time.
Not a scary movie but definitely enjoyable. I was afraid this movie would be a disaster and turn FNAF into another meme like Security breach did but thank gosh it was actually descent and good
I remember playing the first 3 games when they came out, had a lot of fun since the whole indie horror jumpscare games was re invented with this game and many others. It all felt new to me, sadly for me it got old a after a few years and the fans that loves the lore and gameplay kept FNAF relevant to this day.
My opinion is that as a horror movie there is no real tension, like Chris said the actors are horrible at acting scared when they see something out of this world , not just that but being PG-13 was a mistake. this movie could have been better if we got some body horror, I know there is non of that in the games that I played but note that those games are in first person view and it's up to the player to guess what happens when you get caught. They missed the opportunity to show it in this movie in the most horrific way possible, instead the death scenes are off screen or it's very tame. I know that gore or body horror is all about shock value but it's effective, in this case the movie needed it since there was little tension.
The story is very simple but at the same time is not as generic as a lot of haunted house ghost movies or lazy possession movies. it's not just evil animatronics running after the protagonist, it's more than that but without spoiling it don't expect it to be a mind blowing horror story and it's very predictable. The atmosphere, the sets, the music were pretty good though. I guess the movie is just for the fans, and that's ok. After all fans culture is a thing.
I think it was decent and my son was overjoyed. The scariest thing was his 8yr old hyper discourse on lore, theory, and his own fiction of the characters when we got home, lol.
Everything looked great but I feel like more couldve been done. I know they were (kind of) using their own storyline, but after all these years it would've been nice to get some answers. I also thought the animatronics building the fort was kind of tacky, but maybe thats just me.
This doesn't really look interesting to me. My stepdaughter was into these games though and it definitely seems more geared towards kids. It's getting crapped on pretty bad by RT critics
The set design, the animatronics themselves, and the atmosphere were fantastic. Acting was a little up and down but definitely not bad. I am a fan of the first five games (dropped out of it after that) so I knew the story going in, but I definitely enjoyed it as a popcorn flick. Not as much horror as I would have liked, BUT there were a few great standout moments and I did like the ending. Solid 7/10 for me, very enjoyable for what it is and I love how it stays true to the games and the lore while doing its own thing.
I never played the games and only know of the characters from stocking the action figures at Walmart. Decided to give the film a shot and let me first explain that I am not a horror fan so I was pleasantly surprised how much character development was put into this. A lot didn’t make sense throughout the movie but I feel most of it was explained by the end except a few things here and there. Overall I liked it and I feel it does ok for a non horror fan looking for something creepy without too much gore. I was really upset with how the babysitter character came to her end as she seemed innocent and what happened with the lawyer who was creepy on his own? Those were my 2 biggest issues.
I am from the UK and this film is rated a 15 at the cinema, I was looking forward to a good blood lust feast! Instead, I felt like it was a babies' film! The so-called jump scares were totally embarrassing!! 😳 Blood well, I have seen more when I have had a blood test! I have played the game before. But I was expecting a horror movie, and this is definitely not! I feel mis-sold. This should've been a PG, and I wouldn't have wasted my time and money! I feel totally ripped off! 😡😡😡😡
I thought this film was boring. None of the kills were unique and nothing was really that interesting. It kinda felt like they missed the point off this
